Memory Lab
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
The short version: the documents you memorize, and any recordings of your voice, stay on your device. We never receive them.
Who we are
MemoryLab ("the app", "we", "us") is operated by Jorel O'Dell. Reach us any time at support@memorylabapp.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in MemoryLab stays on your iPhone or iPad: your documents, flashcards, practice progress, scores, and any voice recordings you make (such as your own reading of a document or a harmony layer). It is saved in the app's local storage and included in your normal encrypted device backups (such as iCloud Backup) if you have those turned on. We have no server that stores your content and no way to see it.
Speech and camera features
- When the app listens to you recite, speech recognition runs on your device. If your device cannot recognize speech on the device, the app does not send your audio anywhere; that feature is simply unavailable.
- When you import a photo, a PDF, or a picture of a page, the text is read on your device. The file is not uploaded.
- Recordings you make stay on your device until you delete them or delete the app.
Optional email (the MemoryLab list)
You can choose to join our email list, during setup in the app or with the "Join the Lab" form on this website. It is optional; every feature works without it. If you join, we store your email address, the topics you pick (such as new releases, tips, modules, or live events), where you signed up, and, from the app, the answers you give during setup (such as what you want to memorize) so we can send you what fits. We use it only to send MemoryLab news and invitations. We never sell, rent, or share it, or use it for advertising, and it is never linked to your documents. The list is stored with Cloudflare and our email service, and an email given in the app also goes to RevenueCat (see Purchases below). They handle it only on our behalf. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your information anytime at support@memorylabapp.com.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Apple's App Store with your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details. To confirm what you have bought and restore it on your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. The app shares an anonymous app user ID and your App Store purchase records with RevenueCat. If you give your email during setup in the app, the app also gives RevenueCat that email and your setup answers, linked to the same anonymous ID, so we can see which list members have made a purchase. RevenueCat handles this only on our behalf and never receives your documents or recordings. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Analytics
We use Apple's standard App Store Connect analytics, which are aggregate and anonymous and come only from people who chose to share analytics with developers. We use no advertising networks, no third-party analytics tools, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
This website
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
MemoryLab is designed to be used by families, with a parent choosing what goes in. The app has no ads, no chat, and no way to contact other people. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The optional email is meant for adults; if you believe a child shared one, email support@memorylabapp.com and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You control your content: delete any document in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you rights over personal data. The only personal data we may hold is what you chose to share on the email list, which we will show or delete on request.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and note important changes in the app.
