I'm Jorel O'Dell, and I made MemoryLab by hand. I'm an award-winning actor with 20 years on the stage, a professional filmmaker and cinematographer in Los Angeles, California, and a dad. I've memorized countless lines from over 50 plays I've starred in on stages across the world, and spent years refining the techniques that helped me master the craft. MemoryLab is built from those techniques. All these years later, MemoryLab is getting me off-book faster than I ever was in the past.
I spent three years living in France and three in Italy. MemoryLab's language modules are what I wished I'd had then: a way to learn through the areas of life that matter to you, following your own curiosity, because learning sticks when you care about what you're learning.
My reasons are personal, too. My daughter is in elementary school, a regular kid who doesn't particularly love reading, spelling, or math, and I'm watching her use MemoryLab and get better at all three. And I lost my father to Alzheimer's, so this journey is personal for me, too: I'm sharpening my own memory and keeping the mental challenges coming.
MemoryLab is independent, built and cared for by one person, and I use it every day. My philosophy: build for real people, with safety and privacy first, as the tentpole of every design. Thoughtful, respectful of your time, and everything you study stays on your own device.
